I am a lifelong Broncos fan. Growing up in Southwest Kansas was not easy when the Broncos would get smoked in the Super Bowl and Chief fans heckled me. Good thing that Denver won before I left so I could rub it in! I got to Colorado in 1998 and moved to New Mexico in 2005.
I am now in New Mexico living with my wife and we are expecting our first child. Being in Albuquerque brings more challenges since I have to contend with Cowboy and fader fans. While my Broncos take the top billing, I root for the Rockies in baseball (2007 NL Champs), Phoenix Suns in basketball, Avalanche in hockey. Since I went to neither school, I root for Kansas (National Champs and Orange Bowl Champs) and Kansas State.
a fan of
Colorado Rockies
Phoenix Suns
Denver Broncos
Kansas St. Wildcats
Kansas Jayhawks
Colorado Avalanche
soccer sucks!

When a Seachicken goes too far......
I know we have childish monikers for teams we don't like, but bringing up 9-11 and making jokes about it before your team plays the Giants is beyond low.

Disturbing similarities, but a more hopeful outcome.
Hello folks!
My apologies for not getting Horse Tracks today. I went to visit family in Raton, New Mexico (just 20 miles south of where Trinidad Jack lives). The wife and I didn't get home till late.
Some impressions that I have of the win yesterday and the way the Broncos have won to last couple of weeks this season harkens me to a memory of another team with the same issues.
Five years ago, we witnessed another team in the AFC West with a great offense and a suspect defense. The 2003 Kansas City Chiefs keep coming to mind with how the 2008 Broncos team is playing. They had Priest Holmes, Trent Green, Tony Gonzalez and a very good offensive line. How ironic is it that Denver has Casey Weigmann, who was the KC starting center. Thier defense was very suspect and was easy to pick apart.
I know as a fan in 2003, I felt like some Chargers fans did after last week's game. Denver went into Arrowhead had lead and we all witnessed one of the biggest flukes ever. Denver punted to Dante Hall, who scored a punt return with the help of three illegal blocks scored a touchdown. Fortunately the Broncos paid the Chiefs back with a huge beatdown in December 2003. The rout was so bad, the offensive huddle argued about how quick they wanted to score.
The 2003 Chiefs finished 13-3 with home field advantage in the playoffs. Peyton Manning and the Colts went in and knocked out the Chiefs that year. Thier defense was exposed for the faulty unit it was.
Of all the items that are similar is the defense. Neither unit was special and many games were shoot-outs.
Thankfully, while these teams are similar, there is a difference. Jay Cutler is a young and constantly improving QB, compared to an older and fragile Trent Green. We don't have a feature RB like Priest Holmes, but we may have something in Ryan Torain if he can get healthy. We have two TE than can equal the output of Tony Gonzalez with Daniel Graham and Tony Scheffler. Denver's O-line is a mix of youth and experience unlike KC's 2003 line with nothing but experience. A huge advantage that Denver has that KC didn't have was a strong WR. Brandon Marshall tips the scale in that area.

Phyllis and his merry men are still not selling out games.
Even with all that talent, they still can't sell out "the Murph". What a joke!
